Rajesh Agarwal is the Co-Founder of Micromax Informatics and served as the organization’s former Managing Director. Rajesh Agarwal started Micromax Informatics in 1991 as a peripheral sales organization and later went on to foray into the PC and Mobile handset market.
As the managing director of Micromax, Rajesh was responsible for orchestrating strategic accomplishments as well as the company’s early foray into rural markets – which together established a ground-up development, allowing Micromax to assemble a portfolio amongst the top-tier handset manufacturers serving consumers across the globe.
Along with his peers – Rahul Sharma, Vikas Jain and Sumeet Arora, Rajesh Agarwal with Micromax scripted a revolution in the mobile handset market with its entry in the Indian handset market in 2008 and in less than six years, transformed the company into largest Indian handset manufacturer in the country and world’s 10th largest handset brands in the world – beating the likes of Nokia and Samsung. Furthermore, Rajesh Agarwal can be credited for introducing unique product marketing and pricing – crucial for ‘mobile handset’s’ reception in rural India.
The product strategies, business restructuring and channel management forged the building blocks to create a strong base for Micromax since its inception which led to its Rs. 11,000 crore valuation in FY 2014-15.
