Broderick Steven Harvey is an American television host, producer, actor, comedian, and writer. He started his career as a stand-up comedian and later became an actor. His television and film debut started simultaneously. Harvey’s flagship show, ‘The Steve Harvey Show’ (1996-2002) on The WB shot him to stardom. He was popularly known for his observational humor and self-help advice about relationships.

Harvey’s first name ‘Broderick’ is named after Broderick Crawford (actor) of the TV series Highway Patrol.
He had a stuttering problem during childhood, which he later overcame.

Harvey began his stand-up comedy career on October 8, 1985, at the Hilarities Comedy Club in Cleveland, Ohio.
In 1990, he hosted the music TV show, ‘It’s Showtime at the Apollo’.
Harvey’s success as a comedian, made him bag a lead role in the short-lived ABC show, ‘Me and the Boys in 1994.
He gained stardom in 1996 with his flagship show, ‘The Steve Harvey Show’, a popular hit among the African-American community.
