For a staggering Rs 7,090 crore, the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, which previously managed the Rising Pune Supergiant team in the 2016 and 2017 IPL seasons, purchased the rights to the Lucknow franchise in October 2022.
Apart from the IT, sports, and retail industries, there is another sector effectively impacted by Sanjiv Goenka, education. Over the years, he has established several educational institutions, ranging from primary and secondary schools, International Management Institute, and Firstsource – to prestigious universities. Sanjiv Goenka has been nominated as the Chairperson of the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur by the Honourable President of India.

He was also one of the six Indians to be conferred with the prestigious “Order of Civil Merit” award by the government of Spain in 2016.
