Murali Sreeshankar is an Indian athlete who specialized in the long jump. He made the country proud by winning various medals. Murali’s recent gold at the 12th International Jumping Meeting in Kallithea, Greece with an 8.31m long jump created a history in the Tokyo Olympics. He holds a national record in the long jump with a distance of 8.26m. Murali is the only Indian long jumper to qualify for the Olympics.

  • Murali left sprinting at the age of 13 and later pursued a career in the long jump.
  • Till the age of 20, he has crossed the distance of 8m thrice.
  • Murali engraved the logo Olympics (5 rings) on his bedroom mirror after being qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
  • He used to practice in Palakkad’s government medical college’s ground for practicing for Tokyo Olympics.
  • Murali was detected with appendicitis in 2018, so he had to forcefully withdraw from the 2018 Commonwealth games.
