Indian startups & entrepreneurs touching new heights with WhatsApp

In recent times, the Young entrepreneurs and newly build organisations understand the significance of correct platform for businesses and run an in-depth research before establishment.

Nowadays a major focus has shifted to online media and messaging apps to increase penetration level.

The Facebook-owned WhatsApp is paying special attention to young businesses and launched business app in 2018 and has recently brought WhatsApp Pay in India.

WhatsApp Business API backs businesses to engage customers from one-way notifications like appointment reminders, shipping alerts to two-way customer support conversations.

Interaction with customers is eased through tools provided by WhatsApp Business that can efficiently automate, sort and quickly respond to messages.

In 2019 working on a subscription-based model, Digi-Prex a Hyderabad-based firm is expanding its business rapidly. It is an online pharmacy market that is largely driving orders on WhatsApp where patients share prescription. Customers receive medicines at discounted rate of fifteen percent than any brick-and-mortar pharmacy shop.

Unique Threads, a company based out of Chennai laid its foundation because of WhatsApp. Shanmuga Priya’s business of selling saree started as an experiment where she used to sell sarees on family-and-friends WhatsApp group in 2014. She now manufactures and supplies sarees to a network of women resellers on the Facebook-owned messaging app.

Over the years, she has gained a fair idea about the business. Now, she supplies to over 2,000 women resellers across India, the US, the UK, and Australia. Priya also manages 11 WhatsApp groups, has eight team members taking charge of the business on the company’s Facebook group.

Founded by Anurav Rane and his father in 2015, Planmymedicaltrip is a Pune-based medical tourism agency portal connects with clients sitting abroad to plan their stay in India that would fulfil medical and recreational purposes.

The business prospered on WhatsApp User app since its foundation and started using the business app in 2019. Initially clients were a bit uncomfortable to share personal data over the user app, later founder noted that the clients are open to connect on the business account.

Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (Government of India) recognised 20-member team of Start-up and raised Rs 1.25 crore from investors in 2016.
