Chitranshu Mahant, CEO and co-founder of Primebook India, has been making waves in the education industry with his Company’s flagship product, the 4G Android Primebook laptop. Recently, Mahant showcased Primebook in Shark Tank India, the popular business reality television series, earning his venture a massive investment of 75 lakhs for 3 percent equity.

The Primebook laptop is India’s first 4G Android laptop designed to provide cost-friendly education to students nationwide. One of the most notable features is the affordable Primebook laptop price in India of only INR 15,000. This has made it a popular choice among students, helping to reduce the digital gap and bring high-quality education to a broader population.

Mahant’s vision of providing high-quality education to students at an affordable price has finally become a reality with the success of the Primebook laptop and the support of investors. His leadership and dedication to improving education in India have not gone unnoticed, and he is fast becoming a prominent figure in the industry. With Mahant at the helm, Primebook India is set to continue making a positive impact on the education sector in India.

CHITRANSHU’S EARLY LIFE

Chitranshu Mahant had a solid academic foundation, having completed his schooling in New Delhi. In 2011, he enrolled at IIT Delhi, where he pursued a degree in civil engineering. During his time at the prestigious institute, Mahant demonstrated a keen interest in research and innovation, which led him to undertake a three-month internship at IIM Bangalore as a research associate. It was during this time that Mahant’s vision for developing innovative solutions began to take shape.

He also became friends with Aman Verma, his batch-mate at IIT, who later went on to become the co-founder of Primebook.

CHITRANSHU, AMAN, AND PRIMEBOOK

After completing their B. Tech degrees, Chitranshu and Aman went their separate ways in 2015. Mahant took up the position of Head of Sales at Smartivity, while Aman became a Team Lead at Paytm. Despite working in different organizations, the two friends remained in constant touch and were always brainstorming new ideas.

Their shared passion for education and technology led them to conceive the idea of creating a cost-friendly notebook for students all across the country. They began to explore ways to create a laptop that would receive processing power and internet connectivity when connected to a smartphone. The idea eventually led to the creation of the 4G Prime OS laptop, Primebook.

“We always wanted to deliver Android experience in a laptop form factor and while the laptop was an interesting idea, we learned that we could actually get a complete laptop experience with a similar price point with the Primebook.”

–         Chitranshu Mahant

Driven by their shared passion for education and technology, Aman Verma and Chitranshu Mahant left their jobs to start Primebook India in 2017. The Primebook laptop founders have collaborated with educational NGOs, schools, and several Edtech companies to promote a transition from orthodox to digital learning among students.

THE SHARK TANK BANK OF PRIMEBOOK

The IITian entrepreneurs appeared on an episode of season 2 of Shark Tank India to secure funding for Primebook. During their pitch, Mahant highlighted the problem of 25 crore students across India needing access to proper education due to the high cost and lack of digital equipment. All the sharks were intrigued by their idea and made substantial offers for their start-up. Finally, they accepted an offer of 75 lakhs for 3 percent equity from Lenskart’s Piyush Bansal and Boat’s Aman Gupta.

CHITRANSHU’S FUTURE PLANS

The Primebook laptop CEO has established himself as an inspiration and a leader in the e-learning and education sector through his solution-oriented approach to providing educational assistance to students across India. He plans to expand his outreach by providing Primebooks directly to schools and colleges.

Additionally, he intends to open up his Prime OS to worldwide manufacturers to increase revenue streams and facilitate the implementation of his vision. Mahant aims to make digital education accessible to students around the globe through Primebook in the most cost-friendly manner.
