A tenth-standard student at Greenwood High International, Bangalore, Avani is considered a teen prodigy in her school. Avani Prashanth’s biography depicts immense support from her family. Her father was always interested in playing golf and when he noticed her interest in the game, he pushed her to pursue it. “Her amazing coordination between handling a club and taking the goal was impressive”, said her father in an interview. So, at an age as young as 3, Avani started playing the sport with her father. Avani Prashanth’s parents have been a supportive backbone for her career in golf, and as she says, “I’ve never felt a pressure from them. It’s just me and my goal to make India more proud in this sport”.

Her coach, Brotheridge, in an interview, stated that Avani Prashanth’s golf career has just begun and he sees great potential in her incredible coordination, speed, and accuracy. He believes Avani Prashant’s records of being a fantastic team captain and handling stressful situations on the field are just another aspect of her being a teen sensation in the sport.

Avani achieved a revolutionary milestone by becoming the first Indian golfer to win Queen Sirikit Cup, an esteemed tournament for amateur golfers in the Asia-Pacific region. Additionally, her exceptional performance helped propel the Indian team to their best-ever second-place finish in the team competition.

  • Avani’s dominance in the tournament was evident as she finished an impressive 16-under (68, 66, 70, 68), ten strokes ahead of her closest competitor, Fiona Xu from New Zealand, who finished at six under (68-73-72-69).
  • Rianne Mikhaela Malixi (68-73-68-74) from the host country and Hyunjo Yoo (70-71-71-71) from Korea tied for third place.
  • She began the final round with a five-stroke advantage over Malixi. Avani displayed brilliance on the back nine, securing four birdies in the last eight holes.
  • Avani’s historic achievement made the Indian team, consisting of Vidhatri Urs and Nishna Patel, secure a remarkable second-place finish, providing tough competition for the formidable Korean squad.
