Why do hustle and alignment need to co-exist while working in a startup?

Holding together a company like a tight-knit, alignment is imperative.. As much as it helps on the inside, it also helps show an image to the world that a company has their actions together, and they know what they’re doing!

An organization needs to make sure the objectives imparted are loud and clear to each its employees, for avoiding ambiguity, and conflict. As famously quoted by Steve Jobs “Great things in business are never done by one person. They’re done by a team of people.” Here are few ways to keeping your team aligned while scaling:

  1. Be vocal about your vision and mission

These is the ground zero for the process of alignment. Make sure that your employees understand your company’s vision, mission and adjust their personal objectives accordingly. A shared mission should be the basis of the company as it provides clarity on targets and goals. The firm needs to communicate its values effectively to its team members.

  1. Align in both parts and as a whole

Once the goals are well-drafted, sub-objectives of each department should also be in place, keeping in mind that they contribute to the bigger picture (i.e. the company as a whole). Employees should believe in the vision of the firm, and be willing to integrate personal/departmental goals to drive the business forward.

  1. Repeat and Reconnect

Once you connect your team with the company’s objectives, do not just leave them suspended, rather they should be revised, and deliberated from time to time. A reviewing pattern should also be set up to help team redirect the team operations, wherever deemed necessary.

  1. Bring the company’s success into notice

Company’s performance rising on the growth graph? Let your team know, while commending their efforts and commitment. Being transparent with the members helps build a mutual relationship of trust and support. Believe and make people believe in your goals, and also have faith in your employees’ abilities to achieve the target growth.

Alignment should be seen an intangible force keeping things in synchronization, however, it should never be taken as a barrier to creativity and innovation. The employees should be in line with the firm’s trajectories but should also be able to make breakthroughs to bring better business.

Ensuring everyone is on the same page would help your business scale as goals will be accomplished with effective planning, efforts, and persistence.
