Women have faced a lot of struggles to break the pillars of patriarchy in our nation. Internet has proved to be a substantial portal to help women raise their voice. The power of web is revolutionary, and Sairee Chahal capitalized on it to help empower women. Giving women the status they deserve, Sairee Chahal is helping lay the root of parity.
Making a change- Sairee Chahal’s Sheroes
Being the founder, and CEO of Sheroes, Sairee set up a digital community platform serving as a foundation for women empowerment. It is an extensive network offering support, resources, opportunities, and interactions with Sheroes.com and Sheroes app being at service for women across India.
Trying to help women gain digital dominance, and with a strong aim to inform, communicate and empower women, Sheroes is building women entrepreneurs, housewives, teachers, doctors, and other domain leaders.
Being an organization fostering women liberation, Sheroes offers independent reporting, and grievance redressal for firms to actively address cases of misconduct, and harassment. Sairee believes that equality at workplace is still an idea people are grappling to understand, and implement.
“I think these are very early days but workplaces in India are becoming diverse, inclusive and fair- but everyone just needs to own it a little bit,” she says.
Giving digitization a gender perspective
Sairee Chahal stands against sexism at workplace, and believes in foundational gender equality. To address the issue, Sairee Chahal says that what constitutes sexism is something not a lot of people are aware of.
“As workplaces get more diverse, different kind of people come in the workplace – it’s a critical issue.
To me, calling out sexism is one way of addressing it. If you notice something, then it means it needs to be recognized and addressed and not brushed under the carpet. From a company perspective, getting people sensitized to gender diversity, to diverse people in the workplace, to making space for everyone is really critical,” she said.
Reminiscing the meek beginning of Sheroes five years ago, Sairee Chahal shared that they would sit outside large company offices waiting for meetings, when they started.
But optimistic about the vision of the firm, Sheroes aims to put 100 million women on the growth road map by 2022.
Sairee paves the path for women towards equality. Ranked 53 on Onalytica’s “Future of Work Top 100 Influencers” list, her achievements are laudable. People like Sairee Chahal who have a burning desire for a positive change are leading our nation towards a better tomorrow.
