Sahara India Pariwar Founded by Subrata Roy, is an Indian conglomerate headquartered in Lucknow, India. The groups operations are spread across numerous sectors including finance, infrastructure, housing, media, entertainment, health care, education, hospitality and information technology. Named by the Time magazine as ‘the second largest employer in India after the Indian Railways’ in 2004, Sahara India Pariwar runs more than 5,000 establishments spread across India, with an employee strength of about 1.4 million. The conglomerate has also been a major promoter of sports in India through title sponsorship of the Indian national cricket team, Indian national hockey team and Bangladesh national cricket team, Force India Formula One team among others.

CSR Activities

CSR Description
Mega Rehabilitation Project: Sahara Gram Sahara India Pariwar emotionally adopted the Bhimasar-Chakasar villages in Gujarat’s Kutch district that were hit by an earthquake. The group rehabilitated the affected families by rebuilding 839 houses.
Rehabilitation of survivors of Latur: Kilari, an earthquake-hit village in Maharshtra’s Latur district was adopted by Sahara India for relocation and rehabilitation.
Adoption of Kargil Martyrs’ families. The group provides financial help by offering 5 times the existing salary (monthly basis) of a martyr for 10 years.
Programmes for Handicapped (Sahyog): Giving support to the parents or guardians of the disabled.
Sakshar Bharat (Literacy Programme): This programme was initiated to make education accessible to kids and adults in the cities’ slums, where poverty and crime are usually the order of the day.
Behaviour Change Communication Project: The project looks after children in the age group 3-14 years who suffer from slow learning, learning disability, emotional behavioural problems, enuresis, etc.
Mobile Healthcare Units: Sahara India Pariwar operates 49 medical vans across India that runs throughout the year without a break.
Pulse Polio Programme Sahara Welfare Foundation participated in Pulse Polio immunization programme, More than 2 lac (0.2 million) children have been vaccinated.
Blood Donation & Hepatitis B Immunisation Camps & Awareness Workshops Workers of Sahara India Pariwar voluntarily donated blood for the welfare of Society, Sahara India Pariwar has also conducted various socio-welfare programmes for Hepatitis-B Immunization, Eye Donation Awareness,etc
Vocational Training Programme Sahara Welfare Foundation initiated skill development programs for enhancement of knowledge of the socio-economic backward community.
Construction & Renovation of Cremation Grounds Sahara India Pariwar has undertaken the construction & maintenance of cremation sites in Lucknow, Gorakhpur and Ayodhya. Similar endeavours are under construction at Patna, Bhagalpur and another at Lucknow.
Concern for Pilgrims Sahara has build Guest House at Kedarnath, a popular pilgrimage spot
NCC Scholarship Sahara India Pariwar has payed over 800 NCC cadets stipends and incentives amounting to over 1 crore annually.
