Leader Appoints: Flipkart’s Sandeep Patil joins Truecaller; Vodafone’s Arun Sarin joins Ola Electric

In a series of leader appointments in India’s startup sphere, two notable leader appointments were announced towards the end of May 2019. While Ex-Flipkart executive Sandeep Patil joined the Scandinavian startup Truecaller, Arun Sarin, Indian-American telecommunications executive and Vodafone’s ex-ceo joined the Board of Ola Electric.

Sandeep Patil joins Truecaller as India MD to help credit business flourish

Former Flipkart executive Sandeep Patil has joined Truecaller as the Managing Director for its India operations. He has become a part of the global management team of Flipkart from 28^th May onward, and will work towards taking Truecaller to greater heights from a global perspective. The Ex-Flipkart executive will also be leading the Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru teams of the organization.

Alan Mamedi, the CEO and Co-Founder of Trucaller further stated that the company had various plans for the future, which Sandeep can help the Swedish-startup gear up.

“Sandeep’s expertise and experience in consumer technology, financial services, and his strong global strategic experience will definitely help Truecaller fast track many of our ambitious plans and take it to the next level,”

According to Truecaller, ten in one users in India who are active, has linked their bank account to its payment service Truecaller Pay.  As the Swedish startup has plans to launch of its credit business, Patil’s understanding of scaling up the fintech business could come handy to Truecaller.

Ola Electric steps up its game by appointing Vodafone CEO Arun Sarin in it Board

Ola Electric has announced the appointment of Arun Sarin as an independent director on its board. Mr Sarin who participated in Ola Electric’s Series A Round earlier this month, is the former CEO of Vodafone Group and serves on the boards of Cisco Systems, Accenture, Charles Schwab. Apart from that he is also a strategic advisor in the Indian Music App Saavan, where he has a minor stake in the music startup.

The investor in Ola Electric’s parent company – ANI Technologies, Arun Sarin said “The time for electrification of transportation is now. EVs are a win-win for citizens, drivers, governments, and service providers. With electrification of transportation we can reduce pollutants and improve climate change.”
